SEO

I discovered a whole new world yesterday. I became a member of a large webmasterforum, because I wanted to know a bit more about , or bettter, I wanted to see what other people were doing in that business, in other words, I wanted to learn from other people if I did my sites some good with the effort I made. To be honest I think that most people are overdoing this SEO thing. You can do some very important things, and you can do a lot that will get you practically no results. Besides not every ‘realy cool directory site, with quite some traffic, and 30 dollars of a month and 2, is going to show up on the first page of . Regardless the keywords and other meta-thingies, there is simply not enough place on the first page of Google. I really think tagging en pinging and what not, are far more important, allthough that would in my opinion not even help those rather pityfull directory sites, with all their categories empty, apart from the directory categorie, were a lot more empty directory sites are listed. And now comes what astonished me: those people who don’t get enough visitors on there sites, are bying traffic. Not in the form of ads but in the form of forum messages writers, in case your forum doesn’t get enough visitors. 1,5 till 2 dollars are paid for 10 messages. Not only Indian teens were applieing for a message writer mini job, I even saw some SEO guru’s who would be happy to help such a forum on its way. The smartest on that forum were the Indian teens. They all got tens of thousands of friends and were happy to sell those off for ten or twenty bucks for a message to all of them (or targeted at only the american or australian ones) about a site who was willing to pay. I was told that was about people and not about big money. Well it isn’t. It isn’t about big money either. It’s about nickles and dimes.

SEO

So, what if every site on the web would be search engine optimized? We would be right back where we started, wouldn’t we? And then what. What will all those marketeers advise us next. I hope they won’t want me to buy pixels. I don’t like pixels. I’m a dot person.
