Schnoor

I just moved. Yesterday I cooked my first meal – baked an egg that is – in my new home. I live in the city center of Bremen, a town in the north of Germany. Schnoor they call that – quite old – part of the city because of its narrow streets. I live in a normal house, but just around the corner it looks like a Walt Disney filmset. I wandered around a bit, waiting for Harry Potter to show up.

Oh dear. Anyone noticing a trend? Would a bit of Adwords help? Or is it all over for pixelotto? I’d help the guy with a smart idea if I had one.

Question:

How big a part of your browser window is taken by all the extra toolbars? Are designers aware of the fact that a site optimized for 1024 x 768 two years ago now doesn’t fit anymore because the top 100 pixels are occupied by technorati, del.isio.us, digg, stumble, reddit and the chinese guy, what’s his name again? Mister Wong, that’s right. I just counted, and in 3 different toolbars i got 15 social bookmarking buttons. That is way to much! I will have to get rid of a few.

Elf Yourself

Everyone has seen this allready, and I’m too late by far. But I think it is so cheesy, and funny. I elved most of my friends yesterday and today, so I don’t have to send them a christmas card and I think you should too.

Pixelotto is not going to work

I know I wrote here before that I thought that Alex Tew would succeed in filling his pixelotto grid this time, but wouldn’t be able to do it again. But I thought about it some more and changed my mind. It’s not going to work. The web newsvine did it’s work and that brought Alex 142.800 Bucks so far (which I consider to be quite an accomplishment). From now on attention will decrease – and no Alex, an adwords campaign is not going to help. Different this time is that there is practically no attention from the traditional media. Those still reach a far greater audience than the webmedia do. I know this is a bit of an old fashioned statement. It is true though.
